Things to think about before you learn to play guitar songs
Before taking guitar lessons you may want to think about what type of guitar you want and what type of music you want to play?
What is your favorite type of music? My own preferences are for blues and rock with some fine acoustic guitar thrown in but generally I love any type of music. So what’s it to be. Do you want to play lead guitar, base or rhythm? Do you want an electric or acoustic guitar? Are you going to play rock music, blues, jazz, folk, classical or one of the many other genres you can turn too.
You probably do not want to pay too much for your first guitar so once you have decided what type of music you want to play go to your local musical instrument shop and ask someone to show you the guitars in that category. There is a vast range of guitar prices so decide how much you want to pay and take some advice before proceeding. Once you have found a comfortable guitar to hold do not purchase straight away. You may find you can pick up a second hand one at only a fraction of the price you do not need a fancy top of the range model when just starting out.
